Historically, fragrance has been "black-boxed." The "Fragrance/Parfum" label on a bottle can hide 30 to 300 different chemicals under trade secret laws. This is still the case for most perfume houses, and it protects the talented perfumers from cheap dupes. However, what this means is that the term "clean" can be confusing and unclear - we don't know what's in the scent, and the term is still unregulated.
So, we look for clarity from IFRA (International Fragrance Association) and the EU Cosmetics Regulation. These bodies don't just ban things; they regulate thresholds. They determine exactly how much of a molecule can touch your skin before it becomes a sensitiser.

We still use naturals (Rose, Sandalwood, Jasmine), but only at concentrations that are dermatologically safe.

Safe, lab-tested molecules that provide unique notes (like Amber) without the unpredictability of raw botanicals.
